Doug is also left-handed! It makes total sense when you actually think about it. Even though in the initial episode Doug refers to his journal as a "diary" he only calls it a journal from there on after.

Mike Judge who is the creator of the show Beavis and Butt-Head, improvised most of the dialogue during the music videos. All of the references on the show to fire were removed permanently after the show was blamed for the death involving a five-year boy setting fire to his Oklahoma home killing his 2-year old sister. The mother said Beavis' fire-making and blatant love of arson was responsible.

2 Stupid Dogs was created and designed by Donovan Cook and was produced by Hanna-Barbera. Originally this show ran from September of 1993, until May of 1995 on TBS as part of their Sunday morning show. Cook had graduated from CalArts and conceived of the show's premise after seeing two stray dogs roaming around his apartment complex. He followed closely to a previous cartoon called Secret Squirrel as he had loved watching it as a kid.

The creator of Rocko's Modern Life actually had an altercation with a television at a young age. When the creator of the show Jow Murray was five a television fell on his head. The cartoonist thinks this may explain his "slightly dislodged view" of the world. The end of the show's theme song features a television falling on the cartoon's characters, a definite callback to a previous real-life event we think.

Sonic the Hedgehog is truly a product of the 90s.

Gargoyles is an American animated series about a species of nocturnal creatures known as gargoyles that turn into stone during the day. Gargoyles is special because of its dark tone, complex storyline, and drama. Character arcs are prevalent throughout the show as well as Shakespearean themes.

The inspiration for Space Ghost Coast to Coast is none other than Jay Leno and David Letterman. The animator of the show actually became the voice of Zorak by doing an excellent impersonation of him in front of the big boss. Herve Villechaize initially signed up to play Space Ghost's sidekick but sadly, this Fantasy Island actor ended up committing suicide during the pre-production stage of the series.

He built it for him to be faster and stronger, and it came with three fully functioning spider legs that popped out of the back of the uniform on command.

ReBoot was initially conceived in 1980 by the British Creative Collective.

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters owes its existence and success to Rugrats. The show was influenced by Blade Runner and Brazil. Cuspo who was one of the animators and creators for the show, thought that Aaahh!!! Real Monsters had a "very film noirish look" and that the city where the monster academy was located looked similar to the look of the dystopian films Blade Runner and Brazil. The Gromble's voice and look echoes The Blue Meanies in The Beatles' acid trip universe.

The Tick is an American animated television series adapted from a New England Comics satirical superhero, The Tick. Pinky and the Brain is a very famous cartoon about one genius scientist and another mad scientist. The Brain's voice was based on the legendary voice of actor Orson Welles. Pinky and the Brain were actually a series of segments featured on the cartoon Animaniacs before they got enough traction to spin off into their own show.

Sonic the Hedgehog is actually not the first mascot for Sega. Before the Sega Genesis, there was the Sega Mega Drive and their first official mascot was Alex Kidd. Sega ditched Alex Kidd when they were losing to Nintendo and Mario, so they switched to something more edgy -- hence Sonic the Hedgehog came alive. Jaleel White is the voice for Sonic. You might know him from playing the iconic nerd Steve Uriel on Family Matters.

Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist features all kind of people that go on to become hugely famous stars. An especially funny one is Winona Ryder's lone session in one of the episodes. Other famous features are Dave Chappelle, Conan O'Brien, Jeff Goldblum, Louis C.K, and Joan Rivers.

Freakazoid! was created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini and developed by Tom Ruegger for the Kids' WB. Freakazoid! is a manic, insane superhero who battles an array of super villains. This cartoon was the third animated series produced by the collaboration of Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros. Animation. All of these were coming out of the animation renaissance of the 1990s. The series was one of the first to debut on the new Kids' WB in 1995.

Cartoon Planet ran from 1995-1998 on Cartoon Network. Afterward, a spin-off of it called Space Ghost Coast to Coast was created. Cartoon Planet began as an hour-long block of cartoons hosted by Space Ghost, Zorak, and Brak. The host segments were often times original songs and ad-libbed skits. New material stopped being made in 1997 and most of the songs and skits were re-packaged into 22 half-hour episodes.

The first Cow and Chicken short initially had rougher animation than the series that followed which featured much darker themes. In the original, Chicken goes to hell for smoking cigarettes and is tortured by the devil while he's there. After this intense episode, the content of the series was brought down a notch, the animation was painted more brightly, and the devil's name was changed to "The Red Guy." How sly.

Road Rovers was a cartoon about a team of superegos that aired very briefly in 1996 and 1997. Road Rovers was actually an attempt to cash in on the sentai craze which was quite popular in the 90s. For how short this show aired, it was actually the second-highest rated show that Warner Brothers was showing at the time, it was just behind Superman.

Dexter was actually voiced by two different women. Christine Cavanaugh was the voice for Chickie Finster on Rugrats and the titular Babe in the 1995 movie. She stopped portraying Dexter on Dexter's Laboratory during the show's third season, in 2001. She was replaced by Candi Milo who voiced Dexter during the duration of the rest of the show. They also gave Dexter an accent because they were fitting into the stereotype that all well-known scientists have accents.

Hey Arnold! was created while Craig Bartlett was working on Pee-Wee's Playhouse, he was responsible for some of the show's "Penny" claymation cartoons. Bartlett created three claymation shorts of Arnold, one of which was featured on Sesame Street called "Arnold Rides His Chair." While Bartlett was working on Rugrats, he showed his shorts of Arnold to the Nickelodeon executive and the shows pilot was made one year later.

The character of Arthur was created out of a bedtime story. Marc Brown told the first Arthur story to his son, Tolon, who requested a bedtime story about a "weird animal." In an interview with Scholastic, Marc Brown said he was thinking about weird animals alphabetically and "aardvark" was the first animal that popped into his head. Tolon is now a producer on the series.

Superman was created by Jewish writers Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1933 but the character doesn't appear in comics until 1938 when it was sold to Detective Comics (now DC Comics) for a whopping $130 bucks. The original concept of Superman had him as a bald telepathic villain that was bent on world domination. Joe Shuster said the Superman character is inspired by other heroes like Hercules and Flash Gordan.

In 2001, Nickelodeon's cartoon series, The Angry Beavers was facing cancellation after four seasons on the air. The show was hugely over-budget, behind on it's schedule, and had pretty much worn out its welcome on its network. The series co-creator Kieth Kaczorek decided to flip the series on its metaphysical head and made the final episode "Bye Bye Beavers," where Dagger and Norbert find out that they are cartoons and that their existence as they know it is going to come to a screeching halt due to the shows cancellation. Luckily we have some insight that a huge Avengers-style crossover film will have a Nicktoons universe featuring all of our beloved 90s cartoon characters.

Van Partible is responsible for this show, Johnny Bravo. It is about a muscular and boorish man that tries to get women to give him attention but is almost always unsuccessful. He ends up in bizarre situations and predicaments throughout the show. Partible pitched the series to Hanna-Barbera's animation showcase What a Cartoon! The first pilot aired in 1995 and quickly became popular. The network was able to commission a half-hour series in July of 1997.

Daria was drawn to resemble a real girl. Mike Judge, the creator of the show, referenced Darlene Conner a girl he knew in school that he referred to as "Diarrhea." Although Mike Judge helped to create the show, he wasn't actually working on the show when the spin-off was created. He was too busy writing for King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-head at the time. He actually has not watched much of the show, saying he's never seen more than two or three minutes of it.

Fox actually asked Mike Judge to make a companion animated series for the show The Simpsons. Arlen, is an actual town in Texas. The co-creator of Parks and Recreation came up with the characters Luanne and Cotton. Hank Hill himself pitched the show to the president of Fox, instead of taking nine months to animate the pilot script, or even animate a scene of it, Judge and Daniels had their protagonist pitch his family to the network in a pencil test.

The original pilot for the show South Park was made by stop-motion animating cut paper. Every episode after the first was computer animated. Kyle's hair is actually modeled after Matt Stone's self-proclaimed "Jew fro." Trey Parker actually ad-libs most of Cartman's lines. He has said that Cartman is his favorite character.

The Powerpuff Girls were originally known as 'The Whoop-Ass Girls.' Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup got their start on a McCracken student film at CalArts called Whoopass Stew. This alternate version of the girls obtained their powers not from Chemical X, but from a can of whoop-ass. The girls' eyes on the show were inspired by the work of Margaret Keane's work. They thought drawing the girls' eyes huge would be funny.

There were a number of times that Courage the Cowardly Dog kind of freaked us out. For example, in season two "The House of Discontent" shows spirit within the harvest moon that looks a lot like Satan. Also, remember when Courage became a puppeteer for his owner's dead bodies? Cuz we do. There were also multiple times where bad CGI just gave the show a terror-some creepiness that might haunt you for weeks.

The series creator for Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy, Dan Antonucci got his start for this show with his short film in 1987 called "Lupo The Butcher." Season 1 of this show was produced between 1997-1998 but didn't premiere until January of 1999.

Home Movies centers around an eight-year-old named Brendon, who makes videos with his friends Melissa Robbins and Jason Penopolis in his free time. The show was originally canceled after five episodes, but Cartoon Network purchased the rights to the series, seeing potential in it. It then premiered on their nighttime show Adult Swim in 2001. They aired 47 episodes in total of Home Movies before it ended in 2004.

Fry's voice on the show Futurama, actor Billy West is responsible for pretty much every famous character over the last 20 years. Look him up if you're curious who else's voice he's done. Matt Groening said his idea for Futurama came to him while he was listening to "Robot Blues" by The Incredible String Band.
