It bombed at the box office, making just $14.9 million (it had a $25 million budget), but it was nominated for several awards, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay and a Golden Globe nomination for Reese Witherspoon in the Best Actress category.

David Lynch's "Wild at Heart" is based on "Wild at Heart: The Story of Sailor and Lula," a 1989 novel by Barry Gifford. Because of the violence, the MPAA threatened to give it an X rating (there was no NC-17 rating at that time), but Lynch, in the end, delivered an R-rated "Wild at Heart".

"Welcome to the Dollhouse" premiered in 1995. It did better than expected at the box office, but this story of a pre-teen outcast has since grown beyond the popularity it had when it was released.
